For owners of shops, cafés, services and online stores
Run your business on numbers, not memory.
Three tools that do the finance, the systems and the writing for a one-owner business: a spreadsheet that shows cash and margin every Monday, a 90-day operating playbook, and 200 AI prompts written for owners.
Margin fade: the job that is quietly losing money.
Nothing above this line is for you. Margin fade is a different problem, with a different buyer and a different price. If you build for a living, your problem is not bookkeeping — it is finding out which job is losing money while there is still time to do something about it. Most contractors find that out when the final account is agreed, and by then it has gone.
The Action Centre, from the workbook’s six worked jobs. Ranked, with the cause, the money and the week’s instruction. Open it full size — or open the workbook itself, below.
Construction Margin Control System
Excel workbook (.xlsx) · works in Google Sheets and LibreOffice
It compares two clocks on every job: how much of the budget you have spent, and how much of the work is actually built. When the money clock runs ahead of the work clock, every remaining unit of work is costing you more than you priced it at — and the gap does not close on its own.
Forecast final cost from what you are actually building, floored at what you have already committed, with prelims forecast by time because site costs run with the calendar
Margin erosion split into named causes — labour, materials, subcontractors, plant, prelims and time, rework, over-commitment — reconciling exactly to the gap between bid profit and forecast profit
Risk score out of 100 with all six components shown, and thresholds you set yourself. No black box
Action Centre ranks every job and writes the week's instruction, with the owner's name and the date against it
The demo is the real workbook: the same six worked jobs, the complete engine and the complete Method sheet, locked so you cannot type into it. No email required. Buy it when it has convinced you, not before.
14-day refund, same as everything else. Card checkout is open to the United States and Canada, billed in Ghanaian cedis by Paystack — expect roughly $153–158 all in once your bank’s foreign-transaction fee is added. Everywhere else is invoiced in US dollars.
Questions
Before you buy
How do I receive the files?
Immediately after payment you land on your download page. Save the files to your computer; the links stay live for 72 hours and you can issue fresh ones any time on the resend page with your order reference. The files are yours to keep.
What currency am I charged in?
Prices are shown in USD, and there are two ways to pay. From the United States or Canada, card checkout: OwnerKit is operated from Ghana by Jamil Abduljalil, so Paystack — the payment processor — charges your card in Ghanaian cedis at the rate shown on the checkout page, your bank converts it, and most add a foreign-transaction fee of up to about 3%. From anywhere else — the UK, the EU, the Gulf — you are invoiced in US dollars instead, same price, usually within one working day. Refunds on a card order are issued in GHS to the same card.
Do I need Excel?
The Finance OS and the Construction Margin Control System are .xlsx files that also open in Google Sheets and LibreOffice, with no macros or add-ins. The Playbook and Prompt Vault are PDFs; the Vault also includes a CSV.
Is there a refund policy?
Yes. Send a refund request through the contact form within 14 days of purchase with your order reference and you will be refunded, in GHS to the original card. If you are in the UK or the EU you also have a statutory right to cancel; the Terms page sets out how that works and when it ends.
Can my team use it?
Each purchase is a single-business licence, which covers your own staff, your accountant and your quantity surveyor opening the files. For a second business, buy a second copy. Multi-client licences for accountants and advisors are not on sale yet — if you want one, write to me through the contact form and tell me what it would need to cover.
Membership
A monthly membership is being built, in the open
OwnerKit Pro will keep the system current — a new operating template each month and the Prompt Vault revised as the models change, for about $19 a month. It is not open and cannot be bought yet; the page lists what has to be true first.
The one-page ritual from the Playbook, free, downloadable right after you join. I will also write occasionally about the weekly cash review, at most once a week. Unsubscribe any time.
